Esteemed Stakeholders, The past two years will remain in our memories as extraordinary times with challenges and changes that deeply affected the way we live and work. It was a time when humanity worked together and everyone tried to do their part. Everyone contributed in their own way: Some stayed home, some fought the disease on the front line (like healthcare professionals we are grateful for), and some kept working at factories and workplaces to keep life going. The pandemic undoubtedly tested the sustainability of the healthcare system, economy and all the other sectors in each and every country in the world, while also reinforcing the idea that it is extremely important to be prepared for crises by having solid governance, anticipation, quick decision mechanisms, appropriate actions and of course digitalization, all as a basic corporate value. At those times too, we delivered our clients power in a high quality, safe and efficient manner with the motto “Energy for Life”. At a time when everyone felt the need to be safe and as far away from the pandemic as possible, we sped up out digital workplace transformation against the unusual conditions of the pandemic to ensure that our colleagues can work safely, helping them adopt a flexible working approach quickly. We also took a series of measures to preserve their wellbeing. I would like to say thank you once again to all of my colleagues who put in an undeniable effort, let it be in the field or in the office, throughout this process.

2021 was a year when we took important steps through technology and innovation centered practices for sustainable development of our industry, while adopting innovative approaches to offer solutions that made life easier for other sectors, our customers, i.e. all our stakeholders whose energy needs are met by us. To prevent power outages, we made significant investments in our SCADA systems for the remote controlling and monitoring mechanism. In parallel with our continuous supply and service quality, we reduced costs through investments that improved efficiency. We use the Automated Meter Reading System (OSOS) to improve customer satisfaction and continue with the total quality increase. With our award-winning project titled “A New Home for Storks”, which has been going on since 2014 to contribute to the ecological system, we become home to storks with the platforms installed on the electric poles on migration paths in our area, with an increasing number of nests every year. We have educated 25,000 kids in 7 years with the project Energy Hunters, through which we aim to teach children aged 4 to 8 that energy is a resource that can be depleted and thus we must use it efficiently.

2021 was a year where our sustainability efforts were appreciated. Gdz Elektrik Dağıtım became a party to the UN Global Compact - the most comprehensive sustainability platform in the world. In this regard, we committed to complying with the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact in all business processes, which comprises human rights, labor, fight against corruption and environment. We are going to report our work in these areas every year and provide concrete data for the principles we have undertaken. We are well aware that the future is shaped based on the capability to meet one’s own needs without compromising on those of the generations to come. At Gdz Elektrik Dağıtım, we will continue to be aware of our responsibilities for humanity, nature and the future in every step we take.
